Have a seat with me & let's have a cup of coffee. ☕
Recently, I've been deep diving my timeline to edit and publish my poetry and SundayX posts to my Blogger.
I'm doing this for a specific reason.
Not chasing fame or glory, just finding a place for them to breathe and take in the light of day to be stumbled upon.
If my verse makes someone smile, think, or even offer a welcome distraction in the midst of a chaotic day I'm grateful.
For me, the creative process brings me joy and a reader enjoying my words is a gift that keeps on giving and I'm humbled by it.
I publish with zero expectations.
All my expectations are released when I hit publish.
If nothing else my verse is swimming on the web creating ripples here and there.
First (Plans we all should consider):
Also, something we don't like to talk about or think about, is Digital Legacy, another reason for this endeavor. I would like to have everything organized for my child instead of leaving them a mess.
(The loss of my Mother was a time of anguish in so many ways. She didn't have her things in order and this contributed even more anguish. It's a mess. I 100% desire and have a strong will to live life to it's fullest ✨π€πΌπ€πΌ✨, but Gen X, as adults we have adult things to get in order. I'm working on those things. This is my sole reason for bringing this topic up.)
Have you considered your own Digital Legacy?
This is why I like Google and their Blogger platform. They make it easy to designate these things.
Ok, with that out of the way, let's move on.
During this process, it sank in that I've been blogging since 2017 on the same themes as my X timeline for almost 10 years!!
A cause for celebration usually but not for me. π
Nope.
I've made mistakes along the way and committed major no-no's!
Second(Learning from mistakes):
One "don't" in particular is deleting your site and content when you want to evolve in a different direction, or find a new slick platform you would rather use.
In these instances: Import! Don't delete!
Deleting content leaves broken links every where and if you have steady readers they won't be happy with you.
They may not be interested in your new site or content. Pray for grace!!!
If you are drawn in a different direction leave your current blog up unless it's content you've had a major change of heart about.
Third (Forward):
I started with the latter and that's what I returned too for reasons explained above.
Before returning to Blogger, I had content on Wix. I learned they do not allow you to download your own data. That was a deal breaker for me so I started transferring content to Substack and Blogger.
Why not WordPress?
Blogger is sleek and simple. I don't need bells and whistles with plug-ins. Google provides a TON of educational materials for Analytics and Adsense if you choose to go that route.
Best of all, Blogger is FREE.
In tandem I'm continuing with Substack, Medium and Hive Blockchain.
Currently, I'm hammering out a process and flow for all four.
Substack has a social component as well that I really like. The folks over there are welcoming. There's a lot of good content published over there too. If you come across content you love and want to see more of, subscribe to them. You don't have to have a Substack account to subscribe.
I highly recommend it though.
Like I said, great folks!
And X?
It's my social home.
I love you guys!
I started with Twitter in 2009 and built my nest.
We have a camaraderie here that is like the Pearl of Great Price I write about.
Community is everything!!!
Almost all my awkward verse lands on X first.
You guys in the writing and poetry community are gold!!!
Thank you for the great prompts & engagement.
✨Much love.✨
(Thanks for reading my SundayX post.)

For readers outside of X:
The poetry and writing community on X is remarkable.
We represent a wide range across cultural, religious, and political spectrums-and it works.
We express ourselves through our verse, stories, fiction and art freely.
We get along and support each other.
If you're a poet, writer, artist, musician or creative, consider joining us on X to share your art.
